This artwork was conceived on a cold January evening, when my husband Mario brought me to the new headquarters of his business, “The Net Value” in “Viale la plaia 15” in Cagliari. I wanted to give him an artwork for the inauguration of this wonderful place, which aims at being both a working space and a meeting point for the start-ups and the innovators’ community of the city.

We got into a vast board room, with a long table and a wide empty wall; being alone in the silence of the room, I put myself in front of it and I carefully looked at it, waiting for the inspiration to come. Luckily, after a few days, I clearly pictured in my mind the artwork I wanted to make.

On a September morning I had breakfast with my friend Laura Sechi in my favorite Café in town: the historical “Svizzero”. After having sipped a tasty coffee, we went to the nearby via Sassari where Laura and her business partner Rita are now setting up their restaurant.

Laura and Rita, both with very successful careers, have decided to change their job, embracing a new adventure. Great, isn’t it?! Particularly now that their kids have grown up. Rita always wanted to start her own business; Laura, a great cook and food blogger thanks to her well known “Cooking Laura” blog, had a great dream. She wanted to open her restaurant to do what she likes most: cooking.

In a rainy afternoon, I invited them in my studio along with the designer that worked at the refurbishment of the place and I showed them the sketches of my proposal. The following day I was commissioned to create the artwork :).
