Art in Porto Cervo Marina

Testo in italiano alla fine della pagina.

Last weekend I went to Porto Cervo Marina to the vernissage of a collective exhibition in which I participated with a selection of six sculptures.

Left: Quiete and Silenzio. Right: Abbraccio and Untitled

I am very happy of having been involved in this exhibition in my beloved Gallura which, together with the whole of Sardinia, has always been a huge source of inspiration. The sky, the colours, the Mediterranean scrub vegetation, the rocks sculpted by the wind and the sea, the silences and the perfumes of my motherland which have inspired many sculptures I exposed. And seeing them in that context made me joyful because it seemed like as if they were at home.

In the small square of Porto Cervo Marina, other than the “Semi Verticali” made by Pinuccio Sciola, there are sculptures made by Alessandro Lobino, Chelita Riojas Zuckermann, Szymon Oltarzewsky and my “Maestrale” made of fiberglass. Close by, Immobilsarda’s offices host some artworks by Eliane Aerts, Massimo Golfieri, Adolfo Macciocco, Raphael Mazzucco, Jean Pierre Ramos and Licia Sanna, but also some sculptures made by me and other sculptors who exhibit outside in the little square.

Giancarlo Bracco, founder of Immobilsarda, and Sabrina la Leggia, curator of the exhibition, made a very good job in organizing the exhibition. Saturday’s vernissage brought a great number of collectors and art lovers with whom I had the privilege to share opinions while enjoying typical products of the island’s food and wine.

It has been a very nice weekend and the exhibition is on until the 9thof September, so if you pass by Gallura…don’t miss it!

Arte a Porto Cervo Marina

IN // Inspired by Nature

Testo in italiano alla fine della pagina

We finally made it! The curator Katy Carta and I have been collaborating for a year for the realisation of my monograph “IN // Inspired by Nature”. I liked the idea of fixing on paper my artistic experience.

After the Academy of Arts, I followed the classic path of all the young artists: frequenting galleries and cultural associations, participating in collective exhibitions and art competitions. But, while I was starting my career I was living: I got married and with my husband I raised a family of four kids.

As many working mums I chose to sacrifice my career in order to give quality time to my family but I never abandoned my artistic activity. I just slowed it down, I didn’t exhibit anymore but I never regretted it at all.

Besides that, since a few years, with my kids being more independent I gradually increased the amount of time spent working and, thanks to this blog, I started talking about me and my art. For me writing is close to a psychological introspection. It has helped and stimulated me to work always more, up to the point of dedicating myself completely to art again – first by painting, then by exhibiting and finally by sculpting.

Speaking with colours

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 07, 2016  /     My art

A while ago I saw a definite fluo-orange image in a book. Some days later I went to the art shop where I usually buy my art materials and “that specific colour” was not available. I’ve been making several tries mixing colours to reach that fluo-orange and now I finally got it! To me it represents to me the energy that I need to keep going on.

The black, on the other hand, is a “colour-not-colour”, spiritual, the sum of all the colours and all the emotions.

The white, instead, speaks the language of the light, the language of purity, and, again, the language of the Spirit.

During this period in which I see a lot of pain and misery around me, the fish is the symbol of freedom, he moves, dances slowly in the water (life), moving gently his long and tender fins.

I like the lotus flower not only because it’s aesthetically wonderful but also because I associate it to this zen phrase I found in the Internet: “Like a lotus flower we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world”.

Amazon In and Out

Nature is my shelter, the place where I can become invisible and hide, think, ponder. When I work, my shelter is the painting or the sculpture I’m creating.

The black and white plants in the bottom left side of the painting suggest the inner darkness, intricate feelings, contradictions and difficulties. On the contrary, the little girls riding the red crocodile are small and fragile, but full of of courage.

They leave the deep forest and go towards a place full of colors, animals and adventure. They are guarded by the red crocodile that represent the power of imagination that help us finding strength, help us dream and live.

Amazzonia dentro e fuori
