In 1994 I participated in an exhibition at the “Cittadella dei Musei” in Cagliari. I had just finished the Art Academy and I was full of enthusiasm, young and still without children. For a month I worked hard on this sculpture, which I first made of clay and then of plaster.

Maternità – Paola Falconi – 1994
Gesso

It was a month of continuous work, every day until late at night, of which I have a beautiful memory. I loved abstract sculpture and I also practiced it, but a part of me wanted to represent motherhood in a figurative way. And so, as always listening to my heart, I ventured into this work.

An Intense Summer

When it comes to art, July and August have been very intense months for me.

I worked for the whole winter together with my curator Katy Carta on the realization of my monograph ‘’IN // Inspired by Nature’’ and, when it was finally ready, I considered important presenting it to my friends, acquaintances and art collectors in my city: Cagliari.

The presentation of the monograph happened in mid-July in ‘The AB Factory’, along with the exposition of seven paintings and four sculptures, all representative of my artistic journey. (more…)

Spes – Hope

I’m very happy to write a new post after a while 🙂

Today in my studio there is a beautiful winter light that is just hitting the table and I like it very much.

In this period, I’m putting in order my artistic production and, looking back at my sculptures I thought I could talk about “Spes – Hope”.

The virtue of HOPE is important to me. It’s like a little insistent light that gives me the power to resist and keep going on when, looking around me, I would like to surrender to sadness and discouragement. But it’s not the case to surrender!

The wing that comes out from the oval figure, that represents life, is in fact “hope and novelty”.

In 1994 I was animated by such feelings when I thought and then realized this sculpture, but I think that they are still there and inside me.

The sculpture was presented at call for artists organized by the Nivola Museum. My great friend and mate at the Academy of Art Monica Lugas won that call with a wonderful sculpture called “Andalas – Pathways”.

Have a nice week 🙂

Il pensiero adolescente

By paolafalconi   /     Feb 21, 2016  /     My art

In this painting I wanted to represent a 16 years old girl absorbed in her thoughts, in her world, while around life flows fast.

In questo lavoro ho voluto rappresentare una ragazza di sedici anni assorta nei suoi pensieri, nel suo mondo, mentre intorno a lei la vita scorre veloce.
