Peaceful fishes

In this painting I wanted to express the feeling of tranquility and well-being that arouse while observing the fishes swimming in the water.

I’m amazed by their movements and I love the silence surrounding them.

In questo quadro ho voluto esprimere la sensazione di tranquillità e pace che mi provocano i pesci quando li guardo nuotare nell’acqua.

Mi incantano coi loro movimenti armoniosi e mi piace il silenzio che li avvolge.

Finding Joy in Every Day Things

By paolafalconi   /     Jan 15, 2017  /     Inspiring moments, My art

Testo in italiano alla fine della pagina

Among the little great joys of life, I want to share with you one specific moment of silence in my studio in the middle of the winter, with the company of my little dog and a fireplace.

Rain, white sky, green leaves of the myrtle tree, olive tree, arbutus tree and the sleeping grass are outside my studio

Inside my studio there are colors on the table and ideas that come to life on a piece of paper, with a clear sensation that I’m leaving a special but affordable moment: finding joy in the ordinary.

Spes – Hope

I’m very happy to write a new post after a while :)

Today in my studio there is a beautiful winter light that is just hitting the table and I like it very much.

In this period, I’m putting in order my artistic production and, looking back at my sculptures I thought I could talk about “Spes – Hope”.

The virtue of HOPE is important to me. It’s like a little insistent light that gives me the power to resist and keep going on when, looking around me, I would like to surrender to sadness and discouragement. But it’s not the case to surrender!

The wing that comes out from the oval figure, that represents life, is in fact “hope and novelty”.

In 1994 I was animated by such feelings when I thought and then realized this sculpture, but I think that they are still there and inside me.

The sculpture was presented at call for artists organized by the Nivola Museum. My great friend and mate at the Academy of Art Monica Lugas won that call with a wonderful sculpture called “Andalas – Pathways”.

Have a nice week :)

Speaking with colours

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 07, 2016  /     My art

A while ago I saw a definite fluo-orange image in a book. Some days later I went to the art shop where I usually buy my art materials and “that specific colour” was not available. I’ve been making several tries mixing colours to reach that fluo-orange and now I finally got it! To me it represents to me the energy that I need to keep going on.

The black, on the other hand, is a “colour-not-colour”, spiritual, the sum of all the colours and all the emotions.

The white, instead, speaks the language of the light, the language of purity, and, again, the language of the Spirit.

During this period in which I see a lot of pain and misery around me, the fish is the symbol of freedom, he moves, dances slowly in the water (life), moving gently his long and tender fins.

I like the lotus flower not only because it’s aesthetically wonderful but also because I associate it to this zen phrase I found in the Internet: “Like a lotus flower we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world”.

Amazon In and Out

Nature is my shelter, the place where I can become invisible and hide, think, ponder. When I work, my shelter is the painting or the sculpture I’m creating.

The black and white plants in the bottom left side of the painting suggest the inner darkness, intricate feelings, contradictions and difficulties. On the contrary, the little girls riding the red crocodile are small and fragile, but full of of courage.

They leave the deep forest and go towards a place full of colors, animals and adventure. They are guarded by the red crocodile that represent the power of imagination that help us finding strength, help us dream and live.

Amazzonia dentro e fuori
