Art of nature: olive trees sculptures.

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 26, 2014  /     Inspiring moments

Today I’ve been in the countryside of ¬†Villamassargia in a place called “S’Ortu Mannu”. Here you can find hundreds of secular olive trees that are 6 or 7 hundreds years old having been implanted between 1.300 B.C. and 1.600 B.C.

It’s a magical place where I have had the opportunity to admire ¬†for another time the greatest artist of all: Mother Nature.

This olive tree is called “Sa Rejna – The Queen” and, according to some experts, it’s considered the biggest olive tree of all the Mediterranean see. I don’t know if it’s really true but for sure this tree is majestic. It’s 16 mt. diameter and at least 10 mt tall. But what is more interesting is that it’s really a living sculpture standing there for at least 7 hundreds year.

Looking for autumn colors

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 23, 2014  /     Illustrations, My art

One of the moments I prefer during the day is when I walk around my house with my dog Jack. Anytime of the day or night.

Yesterday there was stormy weather with strong wind that cleared the sky perfectly. The final result today was an incredible shiny light that amplified all the color of the nature.

I’ve taken my camera/phone and I’ve started to take a lot of pictures trying to find vivid colors that will inspire me during my winter working days.

Bright lights and imagination.

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 16, 2014  /     Illustrations, My art

I really like to find the beauty in the things surrounding me everyday. In the afternoon, for example, while I was going to pick up my kids at school, I’ve seen the nature around me that was really shining.
Today there was a light north westerly wind (maestrale) that, here in Sardinia means bright colors all around. I love this wind and this light!

I love black and white, but…….

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 11, 2014  /     My art

Working at night in my art studio is something I love so much. I can’t do it very often because at the end of the day I’m always very tired but, when I succeed in doing so, for me it’s like a big gift.
Few days ago it was full moon and working in my studio with the moonlight outside was something very special for me. The moon has always fascinated me since I was very little, in fact as a child I’ve done a lot of drawings with the moon in them, and now I keep on painting it very often in my panels.

A perfect relaxing weekend activity: carving stamps.

By paolafalconi   /     Oct 05, 2014  /     Illustrations, My art

Today is sunday, the sky is blue and I think that by the sea should be fantastic, even if it’s october 5th and fall has arrived.
Despite the family discussions on how to spend this sunday, at the end we have chosen to stay home and relax. I’ve immediately took advantage of this situation to do an activity that I love so much, also because is a sort of sculpting exercise, my very first love.
Last june we’ve done a trip to New York and through airbnb we rented a house in the 15th, near the Greenwich Village. My house was very close to a fantastic little artist’s shop called The Ink Pad. Here I’ve found all the tools and materials needed to do carving stamps and once back home I’ve started to test this technique having a lot of fun.
Here some pictures of my collection that is growing slowly, every time I’ve some moments to spend on it.
I’ve used “Speedball” for carving and “Staedtler Master Carve” Artist Carving Block.
I hope I’ve inspired you to find a new relaxing and creative activity. With such stamps you can personalize your stationary, books and any kind of paper you use in your daily life.
I wish you fantastic moments with the ones you care.
